For an amazing Florida adventure, you should definitely give Florida Beach camping a shot! Last January, my family and friends decided to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and relax on a beautiful beach at Fort Clinch State Park in Fernandina Beach, Florida. The cool weather was perfect for cozying up around a campfire, and we had a great time exploring the beach for shark teeth without dealing with too many visitors. It was truly a serene and picturesque experience!

When searching for a beach camping site check for availability at

Tent campers will discover a wide range of options with beach access. Although Florida experiences the annual migration of snow birds during the winter, rarely do these visitors reserve tent camping sites this time of year thus leaving them available even for last minute planners. When choosing a beach camping location, keep in mind the majority of walk-in sites will require parking and carrying camping gear to the site; review the map to ensure the distance is suitable for your physical condition. Because many campers avoid this option, walk-in sites are often available for those who enjoy the most remote beach locations.

Considering the limited number of RV sites available, and their high demand for locations with beach access, it is recommended RV owners secure reservations nearly a year in advance. When planning your trip, be flexible with locations and dates. If you are a local resident, you may have the ability to make reservations one month before the general public so become familiar with your local benefits.

Whether you're a seasoned camper or new to the outdoor experience, beach camping in Florida is sure to create memories that will last a lifetime. Before embarking on your adventure, plan to bring essential supplies and plenty of sunscreen. From the tranquil Gulf Coast to the bustling Atlantic Coast, there's a beach camping site for every adventurer to enjoy. Unplug, unwind, and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature – you won't be disappointed.

Florida Native Life Tip:

During the Winter months, a good campfire will use much more wood than most Floridians are used to bringing. Although many park ranger stations sell wood, it is much less expensive to purchase firewood outside of the park.

The below list is not intended to be a complete camp list but are some of our favorite things.

Winter Tent Camping List*

Moving blankets to place on the floor of the tent

A good mattress pad

Indoor safe propane heater

Solar portable power bank (we prefer Jackery)

A percolator makes the best camp coffee

A solar light for the tent (this one provides a soft light that is good for inside)

Disposable dog pads to use as a rug in the shower stall

Penny Drop Game

Tapple Game
